Replace missing teeth with confidence

Missing teeth can affect much more than your smile. They can change the way you eat, speak and feel about your appearance. Dental implants offer a natural-looking, long-lasting way to replace missing teeth and help you feel confident about your smile again.

At Peacock Dental Spa in Loughborough, we provide dental implant treatment for people who have lost a single tooth, several teeth or a full arch. Your treatment is carefully planned around you, your oral health and what you would like to achieve.

Dental implants create a strong foundation for your new teeth, helping to restore both the appearance and function of your smile. We’ll talk you through your options clearly, answer your questions and make sure you understand each stage before deciding whether implant treatment is right for you.

Why choose Peacock Dental Spa for dental implants?

Choosing dental implants is a big decision, and we want you to feel confident about both your treatment and the team looking after you. At Peacock Dental Spa, we combine careful digital planning with a calm, personal approach from your first consultation through to your ongoing care.

Advanced digital planning
With our CBCT scanner and optical scanner in-house, we can gather the detailed information needed to plan your implant treatment here at Peacock. Where appropriate, we use this digital information to plan fully guided implant placement before treatment begins.

Straumann dental implants
We exclusively use Straumann dental implants. Rather than offering multiple implant systems, we’ve chosen to work with one established system that our team knows and trusts.

Extra reassurance for nervous patients
Feeling anxious shouldn’t prevent you from exploring dental implants. Our team takes time to explain your treatment and help you feel comfortable, and sedation is available for patients who need additional support.

Care that continues after treatment
Implant treatment isn’t simply about fitting new teeth. We’ll help you care for your implants afterwards, with regular hygiene and dental care through a prescribed membership tailored to your needs.

Meet your implant team

Your implant treatment at Peacock Dental Spa is provided by a team with a shared commitment to careful planning, continued learning and high-quality patient care.

Katy Ingram carries out much of our implant treatment and is currently undertaking Colin Campbell’s three-year Advanced Implant Dentistry programme. She works closely with Mike, who mentors her as she continues her advanced implant training.

Mike Ingram has been placing dental implants since 2010 and treats cases ranging from single missing teeth through to full-arch implant treatment. His implant training has included Cemal Ucer’s multi-system implant course and his Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry MSc, and he has recently completed Colin Campbell’s three-year Advanced Implant Dentistry programme.

Working together means Katy and Mike can discuss and plan cases as a team, combining digital technology with clinical experience to provide treatment tailored to each patient.

Dental implant treatment options

Dental implants can be used in different ways depending on how many teeth you have lost and what you would like to achieve. At your consultation, we’ll assess your teeth and oral health, listen to what’s important to you and explain the options that may be suitable.

Single tooth implants

If you have lost one tooth, a dental implant can support an individual replacement tooth without relying on the neighbouring teeth for support. Your new tooth is carefully designed to sit naturally within your smile.

Multiple teeth implants

If you have several missing teeth, you won’t necessarily need an implant for every tooth. Dental implants can be used to support a bridge, replacing several teeth with a secure, fixed solution.

Full arch dental implants

If you have lost, or are facing the loss of, most or all of the teeth in an arch, dental implants can provide a secure foundation for replacing them. Depending on your needs, implants can support a fixed bridge replacing a full arch of teeth, or help to securely retain a removable denture using Locator attachments.

We’ll discuss the different approaches with you and help you understand which options may be suitable for your mouth, lifestyle and preferences.

How do dental implants work?

Dental implant treatment at Peacock Dental Spa is carefully planned around you. We combine digital technology with a personal, unhurried approach to make treatment as precise, comfortable and predictable as possible.

1. Your consultation and digital assessment
We start by listening to what you’d like to change and carefully assessing your oral health. With our in-house CBCT scanner and digital optical scanner, we can build a detailed 3D picture of your teeth, jaw and surrounding structures without having to send you elsewhere for your scans.

2. Planning your implant treatment
Using your digital scans, we carefully plan the position of your dental implants before treatment begins. We frequently use fully guided implant placement, where a custom-made surgical guide helps us transfer that digital plan accurately to your mouth.

At Peacock Dental Spa, we use Straumann dental implants exclusively. Straumann is an established implant system used by clinicians around the world.

3. Comfortable implant placement
Your implant is gently placed into the planned position to provide a secure foundation for your new tooth or teeth. We’ll explain each stage beforehand and make your comfort a priority throughout your visit.

If you’re particularly nervous about dental treatment, sedation is also available. We can discuss this with you during your consultation and decide whether it would be appropriate for you.

4. Healing and integration
Your implant is then given time to integrate with the surrounding bone, creating a stable foundation for your new tooth. We’ll monitor your healing and let you know when you’re ready for the next stage.

5. Creating your new smile
Once your implant is ready, your new tooth or teeth are carefully designed to complement your smile. Depending on your needs, implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, several teeth or support a larger restoration.

6. Looking after your implants
Our care doesn’t finish when your new teeth are fitted. We’ll show you how to care for your implants at home and recommend one of our prescribed memberships, providing regular hygiene and dental care to help you look after your implants and enjoy your new smile for years to come.

How could dental implants improve your everyday life?

Replacing missing teeth isn’t only about changing the appearance of your smile. For many people, dental implants can make a real difference to everyday things such as eating, speaking and feeling comfortable around other people.

Enjoy food with greater confidence
Missing or unstable teeth can make eating difficult or cause you to avoid certain foods. Implant-supported teeth provide a stable foundation that can make biting and chewing feel more comfortable and secure.

Smile and speak with confidence
Your replacement teeth are designed to complement your smile and facial appearance. Having teeth that feel secure can also give you greater confidence when talking, laughing and socialising.

A secure alternative to removable teeth
For some people, implants provide an alternative to a conventional removable denture. They can also be used with Locator attachments to help stabilise a removable denture, reducing unwanted movement when eating or speaking.

Help maintain the bone around your implants
When a tooth is lost, the bone in that area can gradually change over time. Dental implants transfer forces into the surrounding bone when you bite and chew, which can help maintain bone around a healthy, functioning implant.

Designed for the long term
Dental implants are designed to provide a long-term solution for missing teeth. Like natural teeth, though, they need looking after. Good home care, regular hygiene appointments and ongoing dental reviews are important for maintaining the health of your implants and surrounding tissues.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions

Dental implant FAQs

Am I suitable for dental implants?

The answer is most probably yes — but your mouth needs to be healthy first.

Many people with missing teeth can be considered for dental implants, but suitability depends on factors including your oral health, the condition of your gums and the amount of available bone.

There are relatively few situations that make dental implants completely unsuitable. Some conditions, such as gum disease, don’t necessarily rule out implant treatment but will need to be brought under control first.

At your consultation, we’ll carefully assess your mouth and take any X-rays or scans that are appropriate. We can then explain whether implants are suitable for you and discuss the options available.

Is having a dental implant painful?

Dental implants are placed using local anaesthetic, and we also use a strong numbing gel beforehand to make getting numb as comfortable as possible. You should not feel pain during the procedure, although you may be aware of some pressure or movement.

We’re so committed to your comfort in the dental chair that treatment at Peacock is covered by our Pain-Free Guarantee — or your money back.*

Some soreness, swelling or discomfort afterwards is normal. We’ll explain what to expect, how to look after the area and what medication to take afterwards. Any post-treatment medication we provide is included in your treatment fee.

Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how little discomfort they experience following implant treatment.

*Terms and conditions apply.

Can I have dental implants if I'm nervous about dentistry?

Yes! In fact, Peacock Dental Spa has been designed with nervous patients very much in mind.

We’re dedicated to caring for people who feel anxious about visiting the dentist. From the moment you arrive, you’ll notice that Peacock doesn’t look or feel like a typical dental practice. We offer complimentary comforts to help you relax, and we’ll take the time to understand what makes dental treatment difficult for you.

For patients who need a little more help, we can also provide dental sedation, allowing even very anxious patients to consider implant treatment in a way that feels manageable for them.

Our approach to looking after patients has also been recognised with awards for outstanding patient care.

How long does dental implant treatment take?

The timescale varies from person to person and depends on the treatment you need.

Implant treatment will often include a period of healing while the implant integrates with the surrounding bone before the final tooth or teeth are fitted.

Once we’ve assessed you and planned your treatment, we’ll explain each stage and give you a clearer idea of the likely timescale for your individual case. Treatment can range from a couple of months to up to a year where additional procedures are needed.

In suitable cases, we can also provide Same Day Teeth and immediate-loading implants, where replacement teeth can be provided much sooner. This isn’t appropriate in every situation, so we’ll explain whether it’s an option for you following your assessment.

Whatever treatment you need, we’ll carefully plan each stage to maintain your appearance throughout the process, so you won’t simply be left with an unwanted gap while your implant treatment progresses.

What happens if I don't have enough bone for a dental implant?

Having reduced bone doesn’t necessarily mean that dental implants aren’t possible. Our in-house CBCT scanner allows us to assess the available bone and surrounding structures in three dimensions.

With advances in implant dentistry, including shorter and narrower implants combined with carefully planned guided placement, we’re now able to consider implant treatment in some situations where limited bone might previously have made treatment more difficult. This can sometimes mean that bone grafting can be avoided.

Where additional bone is needed, bone grafting may be an option and we’ll discuss this with you as part of your treatment planning. For more complex procedures, such as a sinus lift, we can arrange referral to an appropriate specialist if required.

If a tooth needs to be removed before implant treatment, we may also recommend socket preservation. This involves placing grafting material into the socket when the tooth is removed to help preserve the bone in that area for a future implant.

The important thing is that there isn’t one solution for everyone. We’ll assess the bone carefully and recommend the approach we feel is most appropriate for your individual situation.

Can dental implants replace more than one missing tooth?

Yes. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, several missing teeth or a complete arch of teeth. They can also be used with attachments such as Locators to provide greater stability for a removable denture.

The number of implants required isn’t necessarily the same as the number of teeth being replaced. Your treatment will be planned according to your mouth, your needs and the type of replacement teeth being supported.

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants are designed to provide a long-term way of replacing missing teeth. Their lifespan varies and no implant can be guaranteed to last for a particular number of years. Long-term studies show that well-maintained dental implants can continue to function successfully for many years.

At Peacock Dental Spa, we believe that looking after your implants is just as important as placing them. Good home care, regular professional hygiene and keeping the gums and tissues around your implants healthy all play an important part in their long-term success.

We’ll show you how to care for your implants and recommend an appropriate programme of ongoing dental and hygiene care. Peacock members also benefit from our extended treatment guarantees, providing additional reassurance after your treatment.

How much do dental implants cost?

The cost of dental implant treatment varies depending on your individual needs, including how many teeth are being replaced and the type of treatment required.

At Peacock Dental Spa, we believe it’s important to understand what you’re investing in rather than choosing implant treatment on price alone. Your treatment is carefully planned around you, using our in-house digital technology and the Straumann implant system, with ongoing care from our caring team.

Following your consultation and assessment, we’ll explain the options available to you and provide a clear, personalised treatment plan setting out the full costs of the treatment we recommend, before you decide whether you’d like to proceed.

We also recommend joining one of our Prescribed Memberships. As well as ongoing dental and hygiene care, members benefit from free emergency appointments, extended treatment guarantees and a 10% discount on the full cost of their implant treatment.
